re:shape Volunteer Roles
The Circles Intervention is a simple concept that can have an enormous impact in preventing sexual harm, keeping communities safe and supporting core members to integrate into their community in a safe and productive way.
A group of between 4-6 volunteers will form a Circle around one core member. The Circle will meet initially on a weekly basis. Volunteers will support their core member to identify safe and appropriate activities to engage in, support to settle into their local community and safely reintegrate to this. They will also hold the core member accountable for any concerning behaviours or attitudes that he or she displays.
Volunteers will receive regular supervision and support from their local Circles Coordinator and the opportunity of on-going training.
Paired Mentoring Volunteer
Volunteers will work on a two-to-one basis with people who are an identified risk of causing sexual harm. (core member)
This intervention is for men and women who do not require the intense support and monitoring of a Circle but require some specific assistance in the community. A Mentor would be suitable for those posing a risk which require support with:
- Developing appropriate relationships
- Housing Difficulties
- Maintenance and Monitoring in the Community
- Developing Social and Community networks
Volunteers are fully informed why the core member poses a risk of causing sexual harm. Volunteers have the full support of their supervisor.
